Cracking down on unconscious bias in the workforce
Companies are working towards eradicating unconscious bias one step at a time. Recently a software startup, UnBiasIt, claims to monitor a company’s internal communication for keywords or signs related to racial, gender, or age bias.

According to CNN Business, “The software “is not looked at as a ‘gotcha’ for employees,” said Bing Telhio Credit Union spokeswoman, “because in cases of unconscious bias in particular a person may not know they’ve said or written something that’s not okay. Rather, those tasked with looking over the alerts will decide whether or not to take action — such as offering an employee some bias-related training or other education.”
